Hello fellas.

I'm here to tell you guys to keep an eye peeled to see some spanking new wow art from me.
I've been doing sort of portrait-like drawings like that one i did from Arthas (in his good days)

It all came from my need to practice drawing directly on the tablet.
First i started with kael'thas. And the results were so good i just had to keep going further.
Then i started reading the first book of the War of the Ancients trilogy (well of eternity) and it's pretty cool. I really dig the way Knaak writes.
Plus it sheds a whole new light on some old charaters.
And from that, came my second character. Which is a before-the-sundering version of illidan.

I have to tell you dudes. Illidan was major bastard from the get go... So god damn cocky..Jeez. It changed the character forever for me (the book, i mean).
Still, i think it might be a good opportunity for not being COMPLETELY humiliated by Wang Wei hahahahahaha. This dude never ceases to amaze me... That last wallpaper for the Black temple patch release was just stunning. This guy should move to the US. (He still lives in china, he told me in the email when he replied to mine)
It's a good sign of the next WoW artbook to be out with the next expansion. It'll be stuffed with art from Him and glenn rane. (which just became a member of Sons of the Storm. check him out there! [link] )

The next one i did, was directly inspired by the book too, it's someone that's been drawn just 2 times for the RPG book and the cover for the book i read. Which gave me a good idea of how he looks.  It's KRASUS, or Korialstrasz a red dragon, consort of the red dragon queen Alexstrasza. Awesome character. Powerful mage. cool stuff to do.

The next one was the MEDIVH i've been kicking myself for never doing. And i promise you guys will REALLY like this one. I also liked the thumbnail sketch too. And i'll soon move to final lineart as soon as i finish lining illidan and krasus. I might provide the lineart to one of the so you guys who like coloring will give it a shot. But only if enough people want it. otherwise, there's no point! ^_^

My next ones on the list to do, is Anduin Lothar and Dath'remar Sunstrider (kael'thas' grandfather. weird weird looking nightelf) and i have to pick 3 women from wow to do. First i thought of the Windrunner Sisters. But i want more variety.  So i'm thinking of doing Alleria (which is a character who's been too long without a re-design), Garona Halforcen and ...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand.... ASZHARA! yes, the queen-bitch! The most beloved queen of the nightelves and the one responsible for throwing the shit in the fan!
yes yes. But there lies the question..

Which version of Azshara would you guys rather have ?

1 - Most-beautiful-nightelven-female-EVER version or..
2 - Kind of gross but weirdly hot half girl half squid naga version

Here goes a reflection of what i've been thinking of the present anime series. Popular or not.

First. I'd like to state. I'm not a big fan of big eyed anime.I Even if the story is deep and everything.  Even though i seriously respect the classics as much as i respect michelangelo and things like that... I like more serious looking anime. doesnt' need to be realistic. But cutesy stuff, even if japanese are not my deal. Save a few exceptions.
I'm an illustrator and visual appeal is 50% on my list of required things to pull my attention.

Something that's been bothering tremendously is the absurd lack of quality in the animation in popular anime series like Naruto and other long running series.
Seriously ? I don't get it. Naruto is the most popular anime in the world after only Dragon Ball.  Money isn't a problem.
And honestly ? The animation in the shuppuden saga is COMPLETE CRAP.
There i said it.
I mean, remember Rock lee X Gaara ?
THAT was good animation... and WHERE THE HELL DID IT GO?
For all i know, it should get better.

Anime for me was always an example of how the japanese could do so much with so little. They used to make fluid animation with few frames. Now it's just all weird, skippy and akward animation. (of course not generalizing. Most full-lenght japanese features are beautifully animated. But then again, so were disney's)

I remember watching older series and being all hyped just on the sole fact it was different from hannah-barbera, disney, Looney toones.

But now that i look at it...I thought i'd never say this, but Japanese animation is TOTALLY getting it's ass kicked by current American cartoons.
I see the top notch animation from Foster's Mansion for Imaginary Friends and i can't help being pissed off about anime and all their scene repeating. stopped scenes with lips moving crap.
American cartoons are 100% animated and rarely using repeated shots and frames. And makes me thinkg "THIS is animation"

Don't get me wrong. i LOVE anime.
I recently gave a shot on DEATH NOTE and i'm REALLY happy i did. It's brilliant from top to bottom. Art is good, animation is good, sound is awesome and the story is INCREDIBLY original and good. (except from the shinigami. the japanese have a really strange fixation on the grim reaper myth. kind of annoying)
I also recently just finished watching Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, and even though i loved it because i totally relate to the story of having a band and constant girl trouble, i think the animation was WWAAAAAAAAY below quality, except on like, 4 key episodes.
Gankutsuou is also really cool. Even though i dont LOVE the "alien" twist on Count of Monte Cristo (one of my top 5 books of all time) i have to admit the series is bold, the look is awesome (save for the extensive use of patterns that kind of gets my eye sore). But the animation's good.
And I also like short and funny series like Full Metal Panic (Fumoffu!). But it's hard these kind of series to grab my eye.

I am seriously thinking of giving up watching the naruto anime. The manga is Awesome.
But this lack of quality in animation gets me real pissed off. All the people buy tons of naruto merchandise, dvds and things like that. They should hire better animation studios and more animators and stop being frame cheapskates.

...On the other hand...
The full japanese feature animated movies are totally raising the bar on animation lately.
Miyazaki (spirited away), Otomo(akira), Kon(tokyo godfathers), Kawajiri (vampire hunter d), Moritomo(memories), Maeda(animatrix) are PWINING disney & friends.

Their movies grow more and more beautiful. I can't WAIT to see  paprika. I've been hearing a lot of good things about it.

I had an weird dream last week, and it was that dreamworks would be doing an trilogy of disney-like animations of World of Warcraft. I kind of like the idea. The style matches. Sort of realistic/cartoony look from wow would be a good thing. Imagine Captain Phebo from Hunchback of Notredame. Now cut his medieval hair short and give him an epic mace. Pally FTW.

Sorry about the rant.
But to finish, i think i got it.
Stay way from series with more than 80 episodes. And i think i'll be fine.
