Shrine of Uther Lightbringer by pulyx Shrine of Uther Lightbringer by pulyx
Hello peeps.

It's been awhile since i posted.
And i've been putting this one aside for awhile, due to lack of time to paint it.
I've been meaning to do an Uther Lightbringer piece for big while.
It ocurred to me while i was walking with a WoW character from a friend of mine, through the eastern plaguelands and i had never seen Uther's Tomb.
Hehehe... And since i'm such a big Warcraft geek (Really. i've read 4 books, played all the games and i'm a Wowwiki worm. I'm so geeky about wow. that when i actually play the game i get so easily distracted walking around that i forget that i was questing, grinding and things like that. So..it takes me a whole lot of time to level if i don't have a friend pushing me through. hahahaha) i was really blown away. I love this kind of detail..Like Mannoroth's lance carved into a wall in ashenvale, or it's skull in Orgrimmar.
You can find all types of little details related to lore and things like that. Not to mention the zillion easter eggs that can be found while taking a hike through azeroth.

Anyway. I had reference for this one. I use a little program called WoW model viewer to see items so i can draw them right and everything. Also, to play around with it while i'm bored. Anyway, the program helped me set a perspective and everthing.

I wanted to keep focused on the statue itself instead of the background (WOW, is anyonw surprised ? haha not me)

so,
Summing up.
Everything done by me.

Photoshop CS and Painter IX.
Wacom tablet
and about...hmmm 5 hours.

Hope you guys dig.

Hail Uther! Son of the Light, Knight of the Silver Hand.

I don't know why I haven't said it earlier but this is the picture I keep remembering over the years that reminds me to come back and explore deviantart. "Because," I'm thinking, "i bet there's more pictures like this one on there" x) then I either get on here or Google and find this picture of one of my favorite childhood heroes, Uther, the Lightbringer, and just kind of ogle at it.

Beautiful painting.

I did the quest to defile the tomb while on Horde. And had to hang around and read all the speech Uther gives. And got killed twice while hanging around for it, but it was so worth it. Uther will appear later on to give a warning to Sylannas at Icecrown. He's one of my faves in WoW and I hope we haven't seen the last of him.

Trigon: Did Arella told you what happen to your father?

Raven: She told me enough. She told me you kill him.

Trigon: No, I am your father.

Raven: NO!!!

If you want some better Warcraft lore, get the Warcraft RPG manuals. They're really neat. I have all 6 totaling over 1120 pages. Check them out at Borders or get them from Amazon.com

the books going out of print? yeah sadly it did :(

Aye most RP'ers have never even looked at the lore... I'm trying to educate my friends in it cause Its something we're all interested in, and normally discuss it. ^_^

Mannoroth's spear is in Ashenvale? Hmm...I need to go exploring now.

Poor Uther. One of the the best paladins there was. Now Blizz just needs to finish the Ashbringer questline (that art of Mograine is SWEET, btw) and actually do something more with poor old Tirion Fordring out there in Plaguelands!

Ah, okay. I was looking in the wrong demon infested place there then. Forgot about Felfire Hill. Though I did refind Grom's monument last night, so the trip was okay.

Actually i wanted to do turalyon too.
But there's no recent turalyon art to base it.
I guess i could just do a new look for him based on the statue.

I'm a Warcraft geek too. So whenever I play WoW I always get distracted. I takes me forevor to get leveled. I'll be playing then I see something cool and just forget what I'm doing and I start exploring.

DUDE!!!! Manoraths skull in Ogrimmar is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo awesome. I think it's so amazing that the designers put it all these cool details for us Warcraft geeks.

I don't normally like Uther too much. (I don't think he's really that cool.) But you did such a good job on his statue.

Your amazing by the way.
