This is ' Illidan, and dude,
it's one of the best portrayals i've seen of him.
I dare to say it's even better than Wang Wei's original for this one.
So, i got stoked and colored it. Chamba's lineart is amazing to work with. Very defined volumes makes any colorist's job much easier. I didn't had to figure out ANYTHING (but the wing) while color this. Everything was crystal clear. PLus he's a real nice bloke, sent me a high-res and everything.
I decided to go very dramatic and saturated with the lighting, being that Illidan himself is DRAMA in the flesh.
In the original lineart, there was no Hand of Gul'dan, but i decided to add it just for fun of it.
So, summing up!
Lineart by:
Colors by Me.
Photoshop CS2 and Painter IX, this one took a little while, about 9 hours. (i'm kinda rusty)
Anyway fellas, i hope you'll like it!
I had tons of fun coloring it!
Thanks!
how do you make the glowing effects?? i've tried a few times but it doesn't seems to look like somethings glowing for me.. it just looks shiny, which is close to what i'm trying for but not exactly right...
thanks in advance for any advice you can give
on a side note this ROCKS!

hehe it's called HDR (high dynamic range),
you can do it by making a copy of your main (flattened layer after your finish the painting),
Then you use gaussian blur, ajust the levels to the level of brightness and saturation you want, and then you put that layer in Screen blending mode!
(hope that wasn't too confusing. but thats how i did it)
Thanks mate!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
